Dear Members,

+++ Among the most often asked questions +++

We are often asked how internet addresses should be written, i.e. if the Email address should be written with small or large letters. Sometimes one sees everything in small letters, at other times the first letter is large or the entire address is written in large letters. What is correct?

This depends on the operational system of the Web Server. Generally one writes the address with small letters. For Domains it doesn't matter if one uses large or small letters. By so called URLs, the matter is more complicated. If the correct URL is http://www.firma.de/xyz/ you will not be connected if you enter http://www.firma.de/XYZ/.

Domains and URLs and email addresses should generally not contain special letters, such as the German (ä, ö, ü ß), since otherwise all users are not able to obtain the sites or use the email addresses. If you have difficulty loading a certain web page, try to go back to the next main file step by step. This means that you remove from right to left one part of the URL back to the next slash.(/). In this manner, sooner or later one reaches a site on another level, from which one can look for the information sought.

The Foundation Waterproof tested several different computers for use at home. Different hardware and software components were tested. The selected problem was to add two and three. The various results were quite interesting for the user:

The personal computers is still computing. Every five seconds a window stating "Intel inside" was displayed. To date two to three billion windows are open.

On the MAC. The results appeared on the display when the tester entered the room with the floppy disk. Unfortunately the results can only be printed with a special MAC printer with a price of a luxury car. Normal, affordable printers can only be connected with a special cable which costs more than a special MAC printer.

A work station for UNIX is being scanned by a tool to determine with which ESC keyboard combination the "emacs" can be left after one has entered "2+3".

A ZX spectrum determined the correct result of 5 in a very short time and made it possible to display it on the printer or display screen with a simple command. This is not compatible with today's demands making it the weakest candidate in the test:
